Hey Ocean Make Triumphant Return To Toronto

Hey Ocean @ The Legendary Horseshoe Tavern

On Saturday Vancouver trio Hey Ocean returned to Toronto after 1.5 years to perform songs from their upcoming third album, to be released this fall. For anyone familiar with the band's previous work, Hey Ocean is even more fun in person, taking their upbeat tunes and bringing the audience in on the fun, know how to entertain.
Weaving fan favourites 'Too Soon,' and 'Fish' amongst new songs (many being performed for the first time) singer Ashleigh Ball, and co. had the audience dancing and laughing along to a crop of new crop of infectious pop tunes.
Ball was a flurry of energy, chatty, and playful, an irresistible combination that only added to the enjoyable tunes being performed, even bringing a plush shark out to crowd surf during 'Fish,'  there was no shortage of good vibes.
The real excitement however was the new material from the hip shaker 'Changes' a '60s pop tune inspired by (in Ball's own words) her 'lazy son of a bitch' ex-flame to 'New Love' with a harder edge, and plenty of synth, an element present in portions of the new material, there was never a dull moment.
New material aside Hey Ocean charmed and entertained the audience from beginning to end. The band's personality coupled with a good set of pop tunes, they are well worth the price of admission and one band you don't want to miss out on.
