Sound Wave: Lights

Lights - "Toes"

Lights, recently gave fans of the pixie sized pop songstress, something to cheer about with the announcement of her sophomore release Serbia (out October 4th) and a taste of the record's lead single 'Toes' (out August 16th via iTunes). Building on the success of her Juno Award winning debut album, The Listening, has proven the Canadian pop landscape is more dynamic than Avril Lavigne and Justin Bieber, upping the anti with last month's stellar single 'Everybody Breaks A Glass' and more recently 'Toes.' The former, arguably the superior track collaborating with two of Canada's hottest acts, Holy F*ck and Shad, introduces not only a grittier sound but dubstep into Lights pretty synth-pop sound.
'Toes' meanwhile precedes Serbia's release, with plenty of Lights' signature synth-pop, layered with heavy drums the track is surprisingly sparse elsewhere and it plays off in spades. A favourite on Shattered Vinyl's headphones since 'Toes' initial release, there's no feeling guilty about 'Toes' its just pure pop fun and that's always welcome.
