The ever abundance of music available makes it difficult to truly stay on top of all that is released at any given time (thank god for end of year lists!), as is the case with Maylee Todd. Discovering the pixie sized singer during last month's Canadian Music Week, we were a bit behind on joining in on the fun but as Todd's debut proves, good music never looses its charm.
Choose Your Own Adventure is a gem, even with just a little age, Maylee Todd is a quirky, refreshing blend of music. The doo - wop of 'A Lullaby For My Fictitious Children Lucious & Sumat,' the angelic instrumentals of 'Pegwee Power' to 'Heart Throb' with it's tropical grooves Todd music as well as lyrics have a sense of humour making for a playful record that's a joy to experience, time and time again.
The standout 'Summer Sounds' with it's blend of '70s disco-funk and bossa nova that recalls, Astrud Gilberto, showcases the Toronto native at her finest. Maylee Todd is an adventure. One you shouldn't miss out on.
