Federico Aubele Creates Hypnotic Grooves

Federico Aubele - Berlin 13   4/5

Myspace

Argentine Federico Aubele's fourth studio album, Berlin 13 fuses Argentine tango, electronic grooves, acoustic guitars and synth for a sultry cocktail of sounds that are as exotic as the influences Aubele draws from. Inspired by Aubele's time living in Berlin, a city with a vast electronic music scene, the record is hypnotic lounge music that has no boundaries or borders.

Though the record showcases Aubele himself, the back half of Berlin 13 features collaborations with lush vocals by Ka on 'Efemera' as well as 'Ojala' and 'Lagrimas Viejas' showcasing the sultry Natalia Clavier. The album's highlight 'Kreuzberg' is a marriage of 60s Argentine tango, electronica and dub for one smoldering track.
The record's rich textures, smoky atmosphere and electronic vibe coupled with dub and acoustic elements make Berlin 13 an enveloping experience, as if its transporting you to the night clubs of Buenos Aires.
