EP Beat: Alex Winston

Alex Winston - Sister Wife EP

Myspace

Detroit native, Alex Winston is nothing if not clever, and as a musician of only 19 it's a skill that doesn't go unnoticed. Winston's debut mini LP, Sister Wife, introduces a natural beauty with really high soprano. A savvy lyricist, Winston's six tracks possess a magnetism, echoed by her signature vocals, an asset in defining Winston from her peers.
Standouts like 'Locomotive' anchor Winston with more bass and alternative sensibilities. 'Sister Wife,' the title track is a subtle wink to polygamy, a subject Winston tackles with youthful innocence and charm. Meanwhile guitar driven 'Don't Care About Anything' is Winston's most mature.
For all of it's sugary sweet pop, Winston and Sister Wife, can be fatiguing, leaving you reeling from all that sugar. Sister Wife is worth the exploration and Alex Winston is a fresh face with plenty to offer, when you're not over whelmed by sunshine and lollipops.
