Single Selections: Daley

Daley - Rainy Day   4/5

Recently named to BBC's Sounds of 2011, and featured vocals on the Gorillaz's single 'Doncamatic', Daley is worth our attention. Offering his current single 'Rainy Day' as a free download on Myspace, his silky smooth vocals dripping with soul are something to marvel, you don't come across crooners like this too often. Keep your eyes peeled because there is more to come from this dynamic singer-songwriter.

James Blake - Limit To Your Love   5/5

Another name found on BBC's Sounds of 2011 is London producer, James Blake with his post-dubstep sounds, and the phenomenal cover of Feist's 'Limit To Your Love' it has only fueled more excitement for his upcoming debut album. Blake fuses the tracks signature piano with electronic elements and jam packed with soulful vocals making for one seriously addictive song.

Avril Lavigne - What the Hell   1.5/5

When it comes to song titles that speak for themselves, this one's a doozy. Debuting her latest dud on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest and offering the single free with a "Like" on Facebook is about as juvenile as one can get. 'What the Hell' is a simple remake of her previous single 'Girlfriend' begging the question, when does one grow out of teenage angst? It's cute, it's pop, but we're not 17 anymore and neither is she.

Oh Land - Sun Of A Gun   3.5/5

A former ballet dancer with the Danish Royal Ballet Academy, this quirky Dane is a pop-electronic-experimental hybrid that makes you think Lykke Li or Bjork except she perfectly happy playing frothy pop elements. Sun of A Gun is a rush of dancing piano keys, a pop hook and relishes every moment of it.

Grouplove - Colours   4/5

SoCal five-piece Grouplove are an energetic blend of indie rock, arty folk music, and early-'90s alternative rock 'Colours' is a refreshing piece of lo-fi noisy, rock n' roll, that is infectious in part due to the boy-girl harmonies. Starting out as an unassuming acoustic guitar track the explodes into a guitar-riff driven anthem, and we like it!
