Sound Waves

1, 2, 3 - Work

This week's Sound Wave artist, 1, 2, 3 comes to you from the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Home to two of Shattered Vinyl's two favourite teams, the Steelers and Penguins, but sports aside the duo from Steel town of Nicolas Snyder and Joshua Sickers are a much buzzed about musical act that impress upon first listen. Infectious hooks, tense pop-conscious rock and wry vocals of Nic Snyder make for one undeniably addictive indie act.
The blue-collar anthem of jarring guitars, swollen drum beats, tambourines and clashing symbols 'Work' fires on all cylinders. If 'Work' is any indicationthe duo's full-length New Havens, due out June 21, there is plenty more to look forward to from this dynamic duo.
A healthy dose of buzz with their latest being featured on Spinner not to mention being Nylon magazine's feature 'Band Crush' means there is more for Pittsburgh's music scene to cheer about aside from Wiz Khalifa's ode to the city's colours in the hit 'Black and Yellow.' Perhaps Steel Town has more to offer than Sidney Crosby... but for now just enjoy 1, 2, 3 and their hit 'Work.'
