Single Selections: Kimbra

Kimbra - Cameo Lover   3.5/5   Youtube

The neo-soul/pop songstress from New Zealand drops her latest single 'Cameo Lover' from her forthcoming album Vows. Complete with vibrant tambourines 'Cameo Lover' channels equal parts Motown and contemporary pop spun in the mould of a classic 50s pop tune that's a refreshing departure from the dance heavy pop dominating Top 40.

Data Romance - The Deep   4/5   Myspace

Data Romance's 'The Deep' is the perfect soundtrack to many of the dramatic cliff hangers hitting the small screen over the next few weeks. Amy Kirkpatrick's lush vocals twisted and contorted over sonic synth and thick stomping percussion, it's a swirling electronic anthem. Somber and dramatic, it's certainly worth a spin.

Florrie - Begging Me   2/5   Youtube

Triple threat, drummer/singer/songwriter Florrie releases her first proper iTunes single with 'Begging Me.' A standard pop tune, its a catchy ditty that certainly has it's charm, quick tongued and tongue-in-cheek lyrics, "I'm running out of time, don't need no lines from a d-d-dinosaur-saur." Still it seems something is missing and never quite gets its hooks into you.

Steven Tyler - (It) Feels So Good   3/5   iTunes

There's still something about the Aerosmith frontman that's irresistible even today, as a judge on Idol and on his solo single '(It) Feels So Good' we just can't get enough. Be warned Aerosmith this is definitely not (well unless we're talkin' Just Push Play) but it's got some charm as a pop-rock summer jingle. It's light, carefree fun with a harmonica thrown in for good measure and plenty of Tyler's personality, eh just enjoy it!

Lady Gaga - The Edge of Glory   3.5/5  Youtube

In Shattered Vinyl's defense of our 'Judas' review of 4/5 we'd like to reduce it to a 2/5 upon further listening the love affair... well it soured. Fast. Gaga's third offering from Born This Way, is not a proper single but perhaps the closest the superstar has come to a single that lives up the incredible expectations for the album. A straight up salute to 80s power ballads, complete with saxophone by The E Street Band's Clarence Clemons, and channeling just a hint of Pat Benetar, Gaga's dance/power ballad hybrid is campy, fun. But we're still waiting to be truly impressed.
