Dominant Legs Shine Despite Power Outage

Dominant Legs @ The Drake Underground

San Francisco's Dominant Legs made a note worthy debut in Toronto Wednesday night, with the band setting up to perform ahead of Portland, Oregon's Nurses, power at The Drake Hotel went out, leaving the 5 piece momentarily sidelined. Once power returned Dominant Legs tickled the audience's ears with their sunny nostalgic pop.

Dominant Legs' slight awkwardness, and thrift store aesthetic added to the charm of their sunny tunes full of staccato guitars, 70s tinged keys and Ryan Lynch's crisp vocals, that upon closer listening have melancholy undertones.Tunes "Hoop of Love," and "Already Know That It's Nice" went down easy with colourful antidotes from Keyboardist Hannah Hunt's solo sing-along to Third Eye Blind en route to Toronto to Lynch's love of TSN and hockey's San Jose Sharks, only endeared the band to a receptive and chatty audience.
Lively grooves, boy/girl harmonies of Lynch and Hunt, made the dreamy synth-pop of Dominant Legs a pleasant experience, with much of their set sounding just as fresh live as off their recently released album Invitation. They aren't show stoppers but they'll certainly find your pop soft spot.
