EP Beat: Teenage Kicks

Be On My Side   4.5/5

Teenage Kicks have been on a roll as of late making Shattered Vinyl's Best of 2011... EPs & Artists to Watch 2012: Honour Roll lists in recent months, not to mention the launch of their Singles Club

Be On My Side the band's second EP is more of raucous rock that the boys are known for with brother Peter and Jeff van Helvoort providing their raspy vocal harmonies over their guitar driven set of tracks. "I Get What You Give" showcases the band's maturing as songwriters in equal measure to their growth as musicians finding rich, deeper grooves on "Shook Your Bones" and "And Everybody Knows It."
Be On My Side's biggest pleasure is the band's slow progression into blues territory on "You Shall Not Want," Teenage Kicks aren't your average indie rock band rather swinging more towards classic rock for an effort that has substance and plenty of reason to become a standard in anyone's music catalogue.

Essential Tracks: "You Shall Not Want" & "I Get What You Give"
